Today we celebrate the innovators, problem-solvers, and quiet heroes behind the systems that keep our world running. ⚙️ A few fun facts from the world of chemical & process engineering:
- The Haber-Bosch process, developed in the early 1900s, produces ammonia for fertilisers that support food production for roughly half the world’s population.
- A single barrel of oil doesn’t just make fuel. It is processed into a massive range of everyday products, including aspirin, deodorant, plastics, synthetic fabrics, fertilizers, and even crayons.
- Desalination technologies like multistage flash distillation make freshwater possible in some of the driest regions on Earth.
- Simulation technology now allows engineers to test scenarios virtually before touching real equipment, improving safety, reducing costs, and accelerating innovation.
