What Is Dynamic Process Simulation| How Is It Used?
Dynamic process simulation provides a realistic, responsive representation of how a process or plant behaves over time.
Unlike a static model, a dynamic simulation responds as operating conditions change. Valves can be opened or closed, pumps started and stopped, controllers adjusted and process conditions changed, allowing users to see how the system responds.
At TSC Simulation, dynamic simulation sits at the heart of a wide range of training and engineering solutions.
From individual equipment to complete plants
For education and introductory process training, simulation can begin with individual pieces of equipment and unit operations.
Trainees can explore areas such as:
- Process control
- Pumps and valves
- Vessels and separators
- Heat exchangers
- Columns
- Gas compression and treatment
- Complete process systems
More complex simulations can then reproduce complete process plants and control systems, allowing operators to practice activities such as plant start-up, shutdown and response to abnormal and emergency situations.
Simulation isn’t just for training
The same dynamic modelling principles can also support engineering applications.
TSC develops simulation solutions for process verification, validation and optimisation, helping engineering teams investigate how plant and equipment will behave under different operating and failure scenarios.
This means simulation can support a project throughout different stages of its lifecycle – from design and engineering through to commissioning, operations and operator training.
Different applications. The same objective.
Whether we’re helping a university teach process control, developing an Operator Training Simulator for an operating plant or modelling a process to support an engineering study, the aim is similar:
to provide a safe environment in which people can understand, interact with, and test process behaviour.
